This landscape on the eastern side of Mound AB is the focus of excavations during the next two years. Some of the earliest Indus seals and button seals were found in this area in 1996 and 1997, and it is providing numerous clues to the development of early Indus writing. A few hundred inscribed objects are found at the site each year, greatly increasing the known number of such artifacts. The National Geographic Society is funding work in this area.
